PACS Course Number 25
9 AM to 5 PM
Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) is a rapidly growing analytical technique that can help solve a wide variety of problems. The goal of this two-day course is to introduce you to ICP-MS principles, operation, and open your eyes to applications for a variety of sample matrices. This course is designed for managers, chemists, and technicians who are actively involved in trace element analysis. If you have a present or future need for upgrading your trace element analytical capabilities, and you need to know more about the advantages and limitations of ICP-MS, then this course is for you. Participants will come away from this course with a better understanding of basic principles, specific applications, and a framework for critically evaluating the available commercial instruments. An agenda for this course is shown below.
The course instructor is Bill Purves. He has extensive experience with ICP-MS operation, method development, standard operating procedures (SOP) development, maintenance, and applications development. Extensive course notes will be provided. No calculators are required, and the course is not theory oriented. The course is designed to be of quick practical use to the participants. Participants are asked to indicate their special interest on the registration form. The instructor will make every effort to accommodate these interests during your course.
Course Registration is available. You may also register through an associated conference registration. Send a payment of $2250 to secure your course attendance. Hotel information and a map will be sent to confirm your registration. Please list your special interest(s) during registration. Enrollment is limited to assure your maximum course benefits. On-site PACS courses are available (most PACS courses can be provided at your time and place). Telephone PACS at 1.724.457.6576 if you need further information. PACS also provides laboratory testing and consulting services.
