This is a practical two-day course on High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). It is designed for those new to the field or those with some experience who need more background and understanding to better apply the technique to solve their problems. The course director, Dr. John Allen, has a broad and deep background. He will help solve practical problems. Please specify your special interest/problems on the registration form. This is not a highly theoretical course; it is designed to be practical. The course outline is below.

Some major topics you will learn about are:

1 - Learn when and how to use a particular HPLC method

2 - Learn the specifications for a good column and how to troubleshoot column problems

3 - Review the simplest techniques for optimizing the solvent in the separation

4 - Examine specific monographs for estimating the strength of a different solvent from the known strength of an initial solvent

5 - Cookbook recipes on how to develop methods for routine samples, oversee method development by others, and improve your own method development skills

6 - Submit actual separation problems of general interest for discussion and solution

7 - Receive at this course hands on pump maintenance laboratory experience. This course is designed to be practical and not a highly theoretical presentation. Also, this course can be designed for your projects and brought to your facility using your equipment.
